About the Event

'Cultivating Happiness Through Active Engagement' - The Humber PE and Physical Activity Conference is back for 2024!

An opportunity to share best practice with PE Leads and Headteachers from across the Humber Region, hear from guest speakers and take part in a choice of workshops around engagement and physical literacy.

Please choose either:

x2, 1 hour workshops OR;

x1, 2 hour workshop

The afternoon session will be split into local area partnership meetings.

Workshops:

1 - Physical Literacy - Delivered by Rebecca D'Arcy, YST (1 hour)

How we think, feel, move and connect with others during movement and physical activity shapes our physical literacy. Nurturing these influences helps us to develop a positive relationship with movement and physical activity, building the foundations for an active life. As leaders and practitioners of PE, school sport and physical activity, you play a critical role in impacting the physical literacy journey of young people. In this workshop, we’ll unpick the concept of physical literacy and translate what this means and how it looks within your school environment to ensure positive experiences for all young people.

2 - PE Coordinator Orientation - Owen Denovan (2 hours)

This workshop aims to give PE leaders clear processes in order to assess, challenge and adapt current provision as well as new ideas and resources to improve the quality of PE, physical activity and school sport.

3 - Trauma Workshop - 2 hours - Delivered by Streetgames (2 hours)

The ACEs & TIPs workshop explores Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) & the short & longer term impact on Young People’s health. The stress response & impact ACEs have on the body. Our role in using sport to build resilience and starting to think about how to build a ‘Trauma Informed approach’ in sport. Based on the latest research of health & wellbeing, this workshop will give learners a foundation of what is going on in a young person’s body, the short and longer term impact this has on the behaviour and how we can make small changes by being Trauma informed to achieve better life outcomes for young people through the wholly inclusive and universal power of sport.

Within this workshop, participants will explore the 5 Trauma Informed Principles of: Safety, Trust, Collaboration, Choice & Empowerment.

4 - Youth Engagement and Co-Creation  - Jo Pilgrim (1 hour)

A session to think about your young people and how to gain their insight. Who and how to work with them to develop their own projects, programmes to ensure empowerment, buy in and impact. An interactive lively workshop for teachers to share and learn.

5 - Activate your School Day - Phillipa Youlden (1 hour)

The Activate Your School Day workshop will enable schools to maximise opportunities to integrate physical activity across the whole school day for ALL pupils. Giving you examples of activities and ideas for schools to take away and implement simply into the school day. Including before school, break and lunch time and making lessons more active while supporting learning.

Arrival 9am for 9.30am start. Lunch will be provided. Please specify any dietary requirements on booking.

**Places are charged at £60 per person for member schools and £110 per person for non-members. Maximum 2 delegates per school.
