Scawby Academy has taken its efforts towards achieving the nationally renowned School Games Mark to a whole new level this year and earned the only Platinum award in North Lincolnshire.
Launched in 2012, School Games Mark is a Government led award that rewards schools in recognition of their commitment to the development of competition across physical education and school sport.
The first ever Platinum award was launched early last year as an extension of the School Games Mark, to reward schools who have maintained consistently high standards with their school sport provision. Only 104 schools nationally have achieved the prestigious award.
Liz Notman, Partnership Development Manager for Get Ahead Partnership and responsible for School Sport in North Lincolnshire said “This is a tremendous achievement for Scawby Academy who have consistently achieved Gold standard for their school sport provision. It shows their level of outstanding commitment and dedication to sport development and competition at a local, and county level.”
Executive Headteacher of Scawby Academy, Zoe Birchall said “We are absolutely delighted to receive this Platinum Award in its first year of existence. We are constantly striving to ensure our level of provision provides the best opportunities to our pupils over a wide range of sporting disciplines.”
“To be announced as one of the first Platinum winners nationally is an achievement we are extremely proud of, and I congratulate my team for their fantastic efforts, with special thanks to the PE lead Sarah Traviss. We are proud to have a school of children who, supported by their families, embrace sporting and physical activities with enthusiasm and determination.”
