Students competed as a pair. Boys and girls compete in the same championships.
There were separate championships for Year 5 and 6 students. Year 5 followed a different course to Year 6.
A school team consists of 3 ‘pairs’ in the same age group. A pair can be two students of the same age. Therefore a school team contains 6 students. The top 3 ‘pairs’ from a school make a team. Schools can enter as many teams as they wish. The top 3 teams per age group qualify for the Humber School Games Finals.
The North Lincolnshire School Games Orienteering Championships for Year 5 & 6 were held as Appleby
FrodinghamSports Grounds, Scunthorpe. The event was supported by Humberside and Lincolnshire Orienteers (HALO). http://www.halo-orienteering.org.uk. Students were given full instructions on how to complete the course and an introduction to basic skills of map orientation. Students followed a map and visited controls in the correct order, recording their visit by using an electronic dibber. Time penalties were given for any control missed.
Congratulations to teams (3 pairs) from Year 5; Winterton Junior School, Bottesford Junior School and Westwoodside Church of England Academy and Year 6: Bottesford Junior School and West Butterwick C of E Primary School who now have the opportunity to represent their school and North Lincolnshire @ The Humber School Games Finals in Hull on Wednesday 15th July 2015
