The Get Ahead Partnership organised an Inclusive Boccia Tournament for KS2 students, held at The Pods, Scunthorpe, on Thursday 22nd February 2018. The event was attended by 6 schools from North Lincolnshire, bringing a total of 15 teams of either 2 or 3 participants. This enabled 42 children to represent their school in a competitive inter school event. The tournament was lead brilliantly throughout, thanks to the assistance from the Level 3 & 2 Sport students from North Lindsey College. Their officiating, scoring and encouragement for all children was fantastic throughout the event.

The tournament allowed children to work as a team and interact with other schools, teachers, and student officials, in a friendly supportive atmosphere. This lead to smiles and skilful and competitive Boccia being played by all the participants, making the event a huge success.

The event started with all 15 teams being split into 3 different mixed leagues. Each team took part in 4 group games which then lead to a ranking of 1st – 5th. Once the rankings from the group stage games were complete, all teams progressed into a three team play-off pool where they played a mini round robin type tournament. These new play-off pools determined the final tournament results.

Congratulations to everyone who represented their school during the competition. The tournament was a great reflection of the children’s talent and a massive well done to the overall winners, Hibaldstow Academy A, St Bernadette’s A finishing in second place and St Bernadette’s C finishing in third place.
