Over 390 primary school children are set to take part in a new physical activity session involving UV lights, Get Glowing, organised by Get Ahead Partnership and held at Ancholme Leisure Centre this week.

Get Ahead Partnership’s latest programme Do Yourself Proud, is introducing a new and exciting way for children to get active and ‘Get Glowing’. Get Glowing will include a variety of different sports using ultra violet lights and is aimed at primary schools from across North Lincolnshire.

“This is a new and fun physical activity session aimed at children who are less active and perhaps low in confidence. We will be using glow in the dark bibs, balls, rackets, balloons and face paint to encourage the children who would not normally take part in sports, to get involved and get active.” said Dan Moore, Physical Activity and School Sport Co-ordinator of Get Ahead Partnership. “This event is a great way for children who may feel self-conscious to have a positive, alternative experience of sport enabling them to have a fun and enjoyable experience, representing their school.”

17 primary schools are taking part in this event, with future plans to run additional Get Glowing sessions for the children involved in the Do Yourself Proud programme. Further details are yet to be announced.

Get Ahead Partnership works closely with primary, secondary and special schools in order to develop opportunities in PE and Sport for all young people in the North Lincolnshire area. Their Do Yourself Proud programme targets those children who may not have had a previous opportunity in representing their school in sporting activities and aims to give them the confidence, motivation and encouragement to lead active lives and to promote emotional wellbeing.
